Saw this at the MOMA in San Francisco a few years ago. I ended up sitting in front of it for a half an hour. The more you look, the more you see. Robert Rauschenberg’s work, for me, was a visualization of what it means to be human. He interpreted life in a way that comforted and inspired me. Rauschenberg was a treasure, we were fortunate to know his work – may he rest in peace.

May 14, 2008Blog-o-nuts!
May 14, 2008So, I had this idea in March to start a Financial Aid blog at work and yesterday, after the press release was put out, it took off! The AP picked it up and we’ve appeared as far out of state as the Chicago Tribune. So this is my official shout-out to Vida Christy and the Especially for Nonprofits program (where I was inspired by Vida’s class on Web 2.0) and to Kathleen and Kirsten N. to being hip enough to support the idea. You never know what the media will pick up on!
Replacing Post-Its?
May 6, 2008I usually straddle the fence between technology and hands-on in my life – I love the internet, my new laptop, all things tech…but I also love the garden, getting dirty, knitting, spinning, and working with my hands. I think it is fascinating when technology reimages activities from the hands-on world into its own.
From yesterday’s Chronicle of Higher Education Wired Campus Newsletter:
Sticky Notes Go Digital
Sticky notes, while useful enough on their own, have gotten a few enhancements from researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
They’re called Quickies. They look like ordinary yellow Post-it notes, but they integrate digital-pen hardware and handwriting recognition which stores the notes on a PC for later browsing.
The handwriting algorithm converts handwritten notes to computer-readable text, allowing users to search through them using keywords. The software can also be set to remind the user of certain notes at specific times.
All this might seem like a Rube Goldberg machine, but it might prove useful those who still appreciate the tactility of paper. —Hurley Goodall
As green as I wanna be, I don’t know that I could ever go digital with my sticky notes.
Erasable Paper
May 2, 2008Woah. Xerox has announced a reusable, self-erasing paper. Text printed on this paper automatically deletes itself in 16 to 24 hours. The paper can then be reused. Read the rest of this entry »
